We get asked a lot when we are open at the Silklife Centre. We are only open between 9.30am and 11.30am on Tuesdays but we have a donation box in Sainsburys outside of these times.
We offer help to some very vulnerable people who understandably sometimes come to our building in search of a food parcel. As with all charities we do need to have systems in place to ensure people are treated fairly and our volunteers are protected. We have produced this poster to clarify our referrals process and opening times.
Thanks to all our wonderful supporters, we currently have all the ‘normal’ food that we need. So we’d like to ask you to please donate Christmas food instead during November. Please can we ask you to be really careful the food you donate does not contain alcohol, we get loads of mince pies and puddings with brandy/whisky in and we cannot give these to our clients. Looking forward to being able to give our families a treat again this Christmas, thank you!
Thank you so much to everyone who has been buying from our ‘Foods We Need List’, it’s so helpful to be able to be specific and not to be getting too much of items we already have. Here’s a new list, we’re very short of these so they are much appreciated.
We’ve had a fantastic response to our appeal for donations of advent calendars and hygiene products to replace ‘everyday food’ in the short term,as we’ve been given so much over the harvest period. The third thing we need is Christmas food! We need plenty of time to distribute our Christmas hampers so we really appreciate donations before the end of the month. Thanks so much for being so flexible and helping us meet the needs of the people in our lovely town.
Thanks to your generosity we have lots of most of the items that go into our parcels. However, we are running out of the follow items. Thanks so much for helping us keep our parcels healthy and balanced by donating the food we’re short of
We would like to say a massive well done to Cheshire East Council for winning the Community Impact Award for their amazing effort to prevent homelessness in Macclesfield. Since April 2014 they have prevented 625 cases of homelessness, and their staff have often gone well above the call of duty to help people, including securing food for them. We feel it’s important to share how other organisations are making a real difference in our town!
Thanks so much to all the staff at Cheshire East Council who had a raffle just before Christmas and raised an amazing £300 for the Foodbank!
We would like to say a huge thank you to The School Food Company for their extremely generous donation of £334! The privately owned school lunch provider based in Wilmslow ran a Christmas lunch event on 16th and 17th December and donated 50p from every meal!
