    Wondering What to Donate?

    by  • April 23, 2013 • Silklife Foodbank

BologneseAll our food is generously donated.  In fact people have been so generous that we have an abundance of some food, particularly pasta.  In order to make our foodboxes as nutritious as possible we would really appreciate tins of food that go with pasta.  For example: tins of meatballs; chicken in white sauce; bolognese sauce; mince and onions etc.  We are also running very low on supplies of tinned meat, UHT fruit juice, UHT milk, tinned fruit, rice pudding, instant custard and packets of soup.  If you donate to the Foodbank we would really appreciate items from this ‘new’ list.  Don’t forget we have a permanent donation point in Sainsbury’s!

    Foodbank Update

    by  • April 19, 2013 • Silklife Foodbank

FoodbagsOver the past two and a half years the number of people we’ve helped has grown steadily.  Your donations make this possible!  In February we gave out 68 food parcels (757 kg of  food) to 91 adults and children.  In March we gave out 52 food parcels (744 kg of  food) to 72 adults and children.  However, April is set to become our busiest so far.  Already we have given out 57 food parcels (687 kg of food) to 103 adults and children.  This is due to the recent welfare reforms,  with more families referred especially through Cheshire East Council’s Emergency Assistance Scheme.  Thanks so much to all our supporters who keep growing in their generosity and making it possible for us to meet the growing need in Macclesfield.

ChelfordWe would like to say an enormous thank you to the Chelford Tenants and Residents Association who came to the Silklife Centre last week with a large delivery of donated food for the Foodbank.  The food was freely gifted by generous members of the residents association and the people of Chelford village and district.  On 20th April they are also holding a ‘Soup Swap Day’.  Resident can donate food in exchange for the chairman, Mike Jehan’s delicious homemade soup!  What a fabuolous idea!  If you live in Chelford and would like to help please contact David or Mike through the website: www.e-voice.org.uk/chelfordtara

The ‘Soup Swap Day’ was an amazing success and three carloads of food was donated!  Thank you so much!
